Stena Renewable is a long-term investor in wind power. To date we have invested SEK 500 million in the Swedish Fjällberget/Saxberget wind farm with a total of 17 turbines. The entire farm was inaugurated early 2009 and has so far exceeded our expectations. To ensure technically smooth and reliable performance the turbines have been fitted with state-of-the-art surveillance equipment including round-the-clock performance monitoring and troubleshooting, on site and remotely. We believe that a commitment to a first-class operation of wind turbines, like ours, is a cornerstone if you are to be an innovative and professional wind farm operator in the future.

Our portfolio of new wind power projects consists of pending environmental permits allowing us to construct some 200 turbines. The majority of these permits will be decided upon by the authorities in 2010. Our screening of the entire Swedish wind power market indicates that our projects are competitive.

The market analysis also suggests the possibility to partner with other developers in certain projects. Stena’s focus on long-term ownership, industrial competence and financial strength are vital in the capital intense wind power business. For these reasons Stena Renewable is appreciated as a strong actor in the Swedish wind power market.

In the end, however, we will only be successful long term if our wind farms are accepted by society at large and the local community. We are therefore very proud of our cooperation and financial support to local associations around Fjällberget/ Saxberget. We believe that our initiatives lead the way forward to trustful alliances in our other projects around Sweden.
